Edo: Art in Japan
(New Rotation of exhibit)
This exhibition of almost 300 works of art includes painted screens, sculpture, armor, costumes, ceramics, prints and lacquer from more than 60 private and public Japanese collections. You may have visited this exhibit a couple of months ago when it first opened.
Most of the works of art in the exhibition are too fragile to withstand prolonged exposure to light. To conserve the artwork, all the objects in the exhibition with the exception of the ceramics and sculpture have been rotated thus giving return visitors an opportunity to see an almost entirely different display of items. But hurry- the exhibit ends Febuary15th, 1999.
